Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this fantastic 1978 Monza Spyder is in superb overall condition with very low actual miles of 38,479. This Spyder is a unique 1 of 990 ever produced in 1978 with the Spyder Z01 only package.
The additional graphics were added after the car was new and look great on the car and is what you would have gotten with the included Z02 package. The original 305 engine was removed and an upgraded 350 engine was rebuilt and installed in the Monza. A new 1406 Edelbrock carb. was just added and the timing set was changed to gear driven. This Spyder features beautiful red paint, a near mint mostly original interior, an upgraded 350 engine, and the factory build sheet. This Spyder is very solid with great lines and gaps and was rust proofed when new. There is no rust or rust repairs and no bubbling paint. The underside is extremely solid with no rust or corrosion issues and no patches or repairs. The underside looks as good as the top side. This Spyder is finished in the desirable color combinations of Red paint over Black patterned interior. The current Ohio title shows the miles as Actual as does the previous title.

Exterior

The Red exterior is in fantastic condition. This Spyder has great paint with like new graphics and trim. The paint is in great overall condition for its age with no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in great shape. There is no bubbling paint anywhere on the body of this car. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have great tread left but are older but have no cracking or noticeable flat spots. The 13″ OEM wheels are in great original condition. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good original condition. Hatch is very solid and clean and factory correct with the original spare tire and jack, and the inflator bottle. The underside of this Spyder is exceptionally solid with no rust issues or concerns and no patches or repairs. The underside has been rust proofed when new to help prevent any rusting issues. Its nicely detailed and shows very well.

Interior

The interior of this Spyder is in terrific mostly original condition. The original seat covers are in spectacular condition with no noticeable wear or fading or seam splits. These are factory original covers not some cheap aftermarket covers. The carpet is original with no major stains, rips, or holes and is in great condition. The original dash is in like new condition with no cracks or warping. The Alpine Cassette stereo sounds great and thankfully the dash has not been cut on for a modern stereo. A period correct Realistic Power Booster EQ was installed and really sounds great and works properly. The original door panels are in excellent condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in great condition. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should including the cigarette lighter but the temperature gauge is not working. A better working aftermarket temperature gauge was added and works great. The horn, all gauges, stereo, wipers, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.

Mechanical

This Starfire is in great mechanical condition with only 38,479 actual miles. The original 305 engine was removed and a built 350 engine was installed. A brand new 1406 Edelbrock carb. was just added. The engine runs very well and the car performs nicely. A newer water pump was added. Newer spark plug wires were added as well. This Spyder’s engine bay is very clean and detailed and shows how well this Monza has been cared for. The suspension has been rebuilt with new springs and new shocks, etc. New fuel lines were added as well. The exhaust is stock style and was installed not long ago and looks new and has a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. Many gaskets were replaced during the engine swap and the timing was changed to gear driven. This 4 speed Spyder is very peppy with the upgraded engine and runs very well and pulls strong. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos.
