Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1979 Factory 4 Speed W72/WS6 Trans AM which is in restored condition and comes with factory T Tops. This Trans Am features a beautiful repaint in factory Solar Gold with new decals, a beautiful restored stock interior, the original numbers matching 400 engine and four speed manual transmission, and PHS Documents and several service records. This Trans Am has no visible rust and is very solid with great lines and gaps. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Solar Gold (code 50)over Hobnail deluxe interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above and included PHS documents. This is one of the most sought after collectible TA’s on the market being the last of the 400 4 speed cars, 1 of only 2985 ever made. Very importantly the original engine and original four speed transmission is still in the car. This TA is loaded with sought after factory ordered options and has been restored to stock appearance.
Exterior
The Solar Gold exterior is in beautiful restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a professional repaint not long ago and still looks great with new decals applied after the repaint. The paint is in super nice overall condition with no signs of visible rust and both bumpers are in good overall shape. The front bumper grills and nose emblem were replaced. There may be some minor imperfections and paint touch ups that may not be noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires are brand new and have full tread left and are sized 255/60/15 and the 8″ snowflake wheels are restored originals and are in great shape with no curb rash and come with new center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping and window sweeps are newer and in excellent condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire and jack, with a correct felt trunk mat, factory t tops bags, and the inflator bottle which is almost always missing. Car was rust proofed when new which has really helped this TA remain rust free over the last 43 years.
Interior
The Hobnail deluxe interior of this Trans Am is in wonderful restored stock condition. The seat covers were replaced and are like new with no major wear anywhere. The carpet is like new as well with no stains, rips, or major holes. The dash was sent out and fully restored and is in excellent condition with no fading or warping and the dash bezel is in excellent condition as well. The stereo was upgraded years ago to a after market 2 prong AM/FM digital JVC unit which sounds great. Thankfully the dash has not been cut for a modern stereo. The door panels have been replaced and are like new and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The handle door cups and door lock pulls were replaced too. The headliner and package tray are in like new condition and both were replaced. All interior lights and gauges work as they should including the clock. The stereo, horn, wipers, rear defrost, and power windows all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The AC system is not currently working properly but it did blow cold air last year.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition and comes with the original Pontiac 400 engine and the original four speed manual transmission. The transmission was rebuilt and a new clutch was installed. The brakes were fully serviced with new calipers, pads, and hoses. The radiator was rebuilt and was serviced not long ago. A new starter was added. We have driven this car numerous times and it always performs well, it does not run hot, rides tight, and always a joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Trans Am is an good driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. The 4 wheel disk brakes were serviced and do not pull and stop as they should. The exhaust system appears to be original with newer splitter tips added. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos and appears to be mostly factory correct.
