This 1980 Triumph TR7 Spider is said to be one of fewer than 550 fuel-injected convertibles built for the California market and was acquired by a previous owner out of San Diego in 2015. Subsequent work included a 2020 overhaul in black with red and silver stripes over a black and red plaid interior as well as installation of a new timing chain, guides, and tensioner, as well as seals for its 2.0-liter inline-four, which drives the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. Additional service included a brake system overhaul, installation of new shocks and struts, replacement of the convertible top, and more. This TR7 Spider is offered with parts receipts from the 2020 work, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Ohio title in Dealers name.

The body was refinished in black with 3M reflective red and silver stripes in February 2020, and subsequently ceramic-coated. The quality of paint is super nice and the finish has a great shine and is smooth to the touch.
Various body seals and the front spoiler were also replaced at the time of the paintwork. The new Robbins black vinyl top features three plastic windows and is protected by a matching boot when lowered. The new top was recently installed and is like new.

A chrome luggage rack is mounted to the trunk lid, and the car retains US-market impact bumpers. Stock 13″ alloy wheels wear Dunlop Qualifier tires which have plenty of tread left but are older. Brake lines, cylinders, calipers, and rotors as well as fitting new shocks, tie rods, upper steering bushings, and other items, were all recently replaced.

The cabin was reupholstered in black vinyl with red plaid cloth inserts over new seat diaphragms and cushions. Additional replacement trim includes the red carpets, matching door sill upholstery, and sun visors. A Kenwood stereo with a USB input is fitted in the stock radio location.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a replacement Smiths speedometer and a tachometer flanked by auxiliary instruments. The replacement five-digit odometer reads approximately 25k miles, with the previous unit reported to have read 58k. Actual mileage is unknown. The air conditioning system is inoperative. The AC system is all there but is not currently blowing cold air.

The 2.0-liter inline-four features Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The engine was disassembled and fitted with a new timing chain and guides, main and rod bearings, cylinder head studs, and various gaskets. Additional work performed under current ownership included acid-dipping and refinishing the fuel tank as well as replacement of the following:

Fuel sending unit, pump, filter, lines, and injectors
Radiator hoses
Water and oil pumps
Starter
Spark plugs and wires
Transmission and engine mounts
Clutch master and slave cylinders
Headers, exhaust system, and O2 sensor

Numerous photos documenting the recent mechanical and cosmetic overhaul are provided in the gallery.
