Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1979 Factory 4 Speed W72/WS6 Trans AM which is in fantastic overall condition. This TA is one of 2595 T Top factory 400 four speed Trans Am’s made in 1979 and shows only 92,227 Actual Miles. This Trans Am features a nice repaint in factory Mayan Red, a nicely restored deluxe black hobnail interior, the original numbers matching 400 engine and four speed manual transmission, and PHS documents and window sticker. This Trans Am has no visible rust and is very solid with great lines and gaps. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Red over Black deluxe interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the PHS docs and window sticker pictured above. This is one of the most sought after collectible TA’s on the market being the last of the 400 4 speed cars in an excellent color combo. Very importantly the original engine and original four speed transmission are still in the car.
Exterior
The Red exterior is in terrific overall restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a repaint around 10 years ago and shows well. The paint is in good overall condition for its age and shows no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body with no bubbling paint and both bumpers are in good shape. The decals look good but the hood bird has a few small blemishes. The paint has a great shine and gloss and is smooth to the touch. There may be some minor imperfections that may not be noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires are newer with full tread left and are sized 255/60/15 and the 8″ OEM snowflake wheels are restored originals in excellent shape. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good shape. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire and inflator bottle, with and original style trunk mat. The underside of this TA is exceptionally solid and clean and shows no patches or rust concerns. I see no visible signs of rust or rust repair anywhere on this fantastic Trans Am. The T Tops fit nicely on the car and do not rattle while driving and are an excellent desirable option on these cars.
Interior
The Black deluxe interior of this Trans Am is in mostly stock restored condition. The replacement seat covers are in excellent condition with no noticeable wear. The carpet was replaced and like new and looks great with no stains, rips, or major holes. The original dash is in great condition with no fading or warping and the dash bezel is in great condition as well. The stereo was upgraded to a modern Kenwood MP3 player with new 6×9 speakers and works great and looks awesome. The dash speakers were upgraded as well. The door panels are in great shape and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray are in great condition. All interior lights and gauges work as they should. The stereo, horn, wipers, gauges, power windows, and blower motor all work. The cigarette lighter and clock work too. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The factory AC system is all in place and currently the system is blowing cold air.
Mechanical
This Trans Am appears to be in great mechanical condition and comes with the original Pontiac 400 engine and the original four speed manual transmission. The engine runs well and strong and the car handles great being a factory WS6 car. The engine was removed around 6000 miles ago and was fully rebuilt. An Edelbrock intake was added along with a aluminum radiator and mini starter. This TA performs well, it does not run hot, rides tight, and is a joy to drive, especially with the four speed manual transmission and factory T Tops. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good. The 4 wheel disk brakes are a nice feature on these special TA’s. The master cylinder and some brake hoses have been replaced. Newer Flowmaster dual exhaust was added and gives this TA an amazing exhaust note at idle and cruising speeds. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory AC car and all the components are in place and currently the system is blowing cold air. Newer rear shocks were added.
