Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1978 Pontiac Trans Am which is in wonderful overall condition and comes with a built 455 Pontiac engine and recently rebuilt overdrive automatic transmission. This Trans Am features believed to be original paint in factory Chesterfield Brown, a beautiful mostly original Camel Tan deluxe tan interior, 15×8 snowflake wheels with newer tires, and a strong running rebuilt Pontiac 455 engine with added performance parts. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Chesterfield Brown over Camel Tan deluxe interior. This is the factory color scheme as seen on the trim tag pictured above and recently found build sheet removed from the rear seat back. This TA was owned by the previous family for around 20 years in Texas and has been in Texas for a long time. This TA has 50,876 Actual miles and the clean current Ohio title marks the mileage as Actual. Car shows as actual miles and the brittle plastic pieces are still in place under the A pillars at each corner of the dash. I have only seen those in tact on low mile original cars.

Exterior

The Brown exterior is in original condition. This Trans Am features believed to be original paint and decals and shows as such. The paint is in good overall condition for being nearly 45 years old with expected patina here and there. There are no known touch ups or repainted areas. There is no bubbling paint anywhere on the body and the car was rust proofed when new with Ziebart. Both bumpers are in good shape with no flaking paint. Ziebart mud flaps are still in place on this TA which were mostly likely installed when car was new and rust proofed by Ziebart. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. An old school alarm was added and the siren still works on a toggle switch mounted on the center console. Tires are like new with less than 1000 miles on them and sized 255/60/15 and the 15×8 snowflake wheels were added. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with a trunk mat. The underside is solid on this TA with no known repairs or visible rust and still shows the original Ziebart rust proofing.

Interior

The Tan deluxe vinyl interior of this Trans Am is mostly original and still shows very well. The original seat covers are in excellent condition with no major wear or rips or seam splits. The carpet is in great condition with no major stains, rips, or holes. The dash is in excellent condition with no cracks or warping or fading and the dash bezel is in excellent condition as well. The door panels are in great condition and the arm rests are in tact and work as they should. The headliner and package tray are both in good condition. An upgraded Kenwood CD player was added along with an Alpine EQ and new speakers. System sounds great but there is an occasional crackling noise I believe from the EQ which appears to be a grounding issue. All interior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the clock. The horn, wipers, stereo, AC, power windows, rear defrost, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The factory air conditioning system is in place and was recently serviced and is currently working and blowing cold air.

Mechanical

This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition and the 455 Pontiac engine runs very well. The Pontiac 455 engine was rebuilt and installed around 20 years ago in this TA. Aluminum performance Edelbrock cylinder heads were added at that time along with a new Aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold and a new Edelbrock carb. A new distributor and coil were just added. A 700r4 overdrive automatic transmission was added along with this 455 engine and was recently rebuilt at a cost of $2900 in 2021. This TA has much more performance than its stock counterparts and pulls strong and runs strong. It will shred the tires if desired when sitting still or when moving. At the same time it is very street able and easy to drive. New rear leaf springs were added. A mini starter was added. The rear end was upgraded to a 12 bolt posi and adds to performance. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Trans Am is a good driver that feels good on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time and runs strong. The brakes do not pull while driving and stop well. The brakes were upgraded to 4 wheel disc brakes. True Flowmaster dual exhaust was added with headers giving this TA an amazing rumble at idle and cruising speeds. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos.
