Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1978 Pontiac Trans Am which is in restored condition and comes with the original rebuilt Pontiac 400 engine and a fully restored exterior. This Trans AM has only had two owners since new and the second owner had the car from 1979 until 2018. This TA was recently repainted to look like a Special Edition Trans AM with correct starlight Black paint and correct S.E. graphics. This TA is loaded with factory options including Factory AC, T – Tops, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Cruise Control, Deluxe interior, Rear Window Defrost, and so on. This Trans Am features a professional repaint in Black with new SE decals, a restored interior, restored Snowflake wheels with newer tires, and a strong running rebuilt 400 Pontiac engine. This TA comes with numerous dealer documents and brochures and the original factory build sheet and a copy of the window sticker. This Trans Am is finished the iconic highly desirable color combination of Starlight Black with SE decals, over Camel Tan deluxe vinyl interior. This TA came from the factory in Brown paint over Tan interior, so this TA has been treated to a full restoration and done to a high standard over the last two years. Over $6,000 in receipts are included in the sale mostly pertaining to the engine rebuild.
Exterior
The Starlight Metallic exterior is in beautiful fully restored condition. This Trans Am was treated to a professional repaint in Black with all new SE decals and SE pin stripes which are in like new condition. The paint is in great condition and has a high gloss and smooth touch, with a beautiful shine. There is no bubbling paint anywhere on the body and the gaps and lines are very good around the car. This TA has one of the most iconic and desirable exterior looks which can be found on any collectible car. Both bumpers are in excellent condition with no flaking or faded paint and the nose crest emblem was just changed. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. Tires are like new and the OEM Snowflake wheels are restored with newer center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping and window sweeps are newer and in great condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire, the original jack and inflator bottle, with an original style trunk mat. The underside is solid with no signs of visible rust.
Interior
The Tan interior of this Trans Am has been nicely restored. The deluxe Tan seat covers are new and are like new in every way and have no wear. The carpet is like new as well with no stains, rips, or holes and was replaced. The original dash is in great condition with no cracks, fading or warping. The dash bezel is in great condition as well. The stereo was replaced but is currently not working and is older, but thankfully the dash has not been cut on. The console lid and console bin were just replaced. The door panels are original and still in nice condition and both door pulls are in tact. The headliner and package tray have also been replaced and both are in good condition. All interior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the clock and cig. lighter. The horn, wipers, and blower motor all work. The power windows work well on the car but the power door locks are not working which is typical on these. This TA has factory Air Conditioning and and new compressor was recently installed but new freon was not added and the system needs charged. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition and the 400 Pontiac engine runs very well. The 400 engine was recently removed from the car and fully rebuilt to stock specs and comes with all build receipts. Less than 500 miles have been added since the full rebuild. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and the car goes down the road nicely. The carb. was also rebuilt and the spark plugs were replaced and new coolant was added. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This Trans Am is a great driver that feels good on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time and runs strong. The brakes do not pull while driving and stop well. The steering is tight and very responsive as a TA should be. True exhaust is older but sounds great and works well and new splitter tips were just added. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a fun TA to have and gets a lot of looks while driving and runs and drives very well.
