Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this three owner 1978 Pontiac Trans AM which is in superb overall condition with low actual miles of 34,584. This car has not been taken apart and molested and drives like new as only a very low mile original car can. This TA was purchased by second owner in 1979 and remained in his possession until his passing in 2018 when his dear friend got the car. The original Pontiac 400 engine remains in the car and the vin on the engine block is numbers matching. This Trans AM features a beautiful repaint in factory Chesterfield brown with new decals, a mostly original tan interior, the original Pontiac 400 engine and automatic transmission, and the original factory build sheet. This TA is very solid with great lines and gaps. There is no rust or rust repairs and no bubbling or cracked paint. The car was rust proofed when new with Ziebart rust proofing system. The underside is extremely solid with no rust or corrosion issues and no patches or repairs. This TA was heavily undercoated and rust proofed when new, see all the plugs around the car and the rust proofing brochure from Ziebart. This TA is finished in the desirable color combinations of Chesterfield Brown over Tan interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above and included build sheet.

Exterior

The Brown exterior is in fantastic restored condition. This TA has excellent paint and was treated to a professional repaint some years ago and new decals and emblems were added. The paint is in terrific overall condition with no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in great shape. There is no bubbling paint anywhere on the body of this car. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The BF Goodrich tires have full tread left and were just installed with under 50 miles on them and are correctly sized 225/70/15. The 15″ OEM snowflake wheels are restored originals which look like new with excellent center caps and lug nuts. Trunk is very solid and clean and factory correct with the original trunk mat, original spare tire and jack, and the original inflator bottle. The underside of this TA is exceptionally solid with no rust issues or concerns and no patches or repairs. This TA was heavily undercoated when new and all of the undercoating is still present today and has really done its job keeping this car fully rust free.

Interior

The tan interior of this Trans Am is in terrific almost all original condition. The seat covers are in spectacular condition with no noticeable wear or fading or seam splits. The carpet is in excellent shape with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in great condition with no cracks or warping or fading and the engine turned dash bezel is in great condition as well. The stereo was upgraded to a Panasonic digital cassette player with an added graphic equalizer and both work well. These units were professionally installed with no hacked up wiring and are period correct. Thankfully the dash has not been cut for a modern stereo and original equipment could easily be reinstalled. The original door panels are in good condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner and package tray are both in good condition. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should including the cigarette lighter. The horn, all gauges, stereo, wipers, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. This is a factory AC car and all the components are in order and the system currently blows cool air but not ice cold. Could use some more Freon to blow colder air.

Mechanical

This TA is in great mechanical condition and the original Pontiac 400 engine is still in the car with matching vin number, see photo. This engine runs very well and the car performs nicely and the odometer only shows 34,584 Actual Miles. The car is exceptionally dry underneath and I did not have to clean up at all underneath and nothing was doctored up with cheap spray paint. The exhaust was upgraded from the factory cat. back. We have driven this car several times and it performs well, it does not run hot, it rides tight, and is always a joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This TA is a nice driver that feels good on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time and runs well. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory AC car and all the AC components are in place and the system blows cool. Would need a charge to blow ice cold air. The engine bay is clean and nicely detailed and very stock in appearance.
