Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this survivor 1978 Formula which is in fantastic original condition and was one family owned since new. The original owner had the car from new until last summer 2022 when he sold to his nephew due to failing health. This formula is very special being a factory W50 special appearance package car with factory Hurst T Tops. This Formula features believed to be original paint with original decals and stripping, a beautiful deluxe vinyl mostly original interior, the original 305 Chevy engine, and 2 original factory build sheets. This Formula is solid and was treated with rust proofing when new and has really protected this car from rust. This Formula is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Black/Gold over Black Deluxe Vinyl interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag and build sheet pictured above.
Exterior
The Black exterior is in nice overall stock original condition. This Formula has believed to be original paint and decals and moldings, etc. The paint is in great overall condition for its age and there are no signs of visible rust and both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking paint. The decals are in good shape and look great on the car with minor patina due to being original. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. Tires are like new with under 500 miles on them and are sized 225/70/15. The 15×8 snowflake Wheels are OEM originals and are in excellent shape with no curb rash with new center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good condition. The trunk is very solid and clean with the original space saver spare tire and the original trunk mat and jack. Even the original tire inflator bottle is in the trunk and the original Hurst T Top bag is included. The underside of this Formula is honest and solid and rust free. It has not been touched up with cheap spray paint or undercoating. The rust proofing when new did its job but its not pretty or in detailed condition on the underside.
Interior
The Black deluxe interior of this Formula is original and in terrific overall condition. The seat covers are factory originals and in great overall condition for their age and have no major wear, stains, or major seam splits. The carpet is original and looks great with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in excellent condition with no fading or cracks and the dash bezel is in excellent condition as well. The stereo has been upgraded to a digital cassette Alpine unit with Alpine 6×9 speakers in the rear deck. The EQ works well to and the system sounds great. The original door panels are in great condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in excellent condition and looks new and the package tray was recently replaced and like new. All interior lights and gauges work as they should including the cigarette lighter, the clock is not working. The stereo, wipers, and blower motor on all speeds all work. The horn is not working.
Mechanical
This Formula is in great mechanical condition with the original 305 Chevy engine with matching numbers vin stamp, see photos. This Formula runs and drives well and it rides tight and its obvious the car has never been apart. A new battery was added and a new alternator was added as well. Fresh oil change was just completed and a new fuel filer was installed. New shocks were added not long ago. This Formula came from the factory with a Chevy 305 engine and that numbers matching engine is still in the car today. We have driven this Formula numerous times around town and it drives well, it does not run hot, rides tight, and is a true joy to drive. This formula has a factory exhaust set up and the factory cat. is still in place. The exhaust has a mild rumble at idle and cruising speeds. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. The engine area is very correct and stock and was recently refreshed and detailed. This is a factory NON AC car which really cleans up the engine bay and enhances performance. This Formula has been loved and meticulously cared for by its previous owners and the amazing overall original condition of this Formula is a testament to that. The factory Hurst T Tops are a huge bonus on this car and really adds to the appeal of this special Formula.
