This 1978 Ford Mustang II is one of approximately 4,300 examples equipped with the King Cobra package, which added special trim, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a 302ci V8. The car is finished in Black over a Tan Vinyl interior with a 4 speed manual transmission. This King Cobra was owned for 37 years by the second owner and has only had 3 owners since new. The clean Ohio title shows the 69,010 miles as “Actual.” The exterior was repainted in 1981 by Ford as the owner wanted fresh black paint with new decals and striping. The paint and decals still show nicely for being 43 years old. The paint is very consistent from panel to panel and shows well for an older repaint and is a fantastic color combination. This KC is very solid with no bubbling paint or cracked paint on the body. The underside of this KC is in excellent condition and is very solid and rust free. The factory buck tag is still in place on the radiator support validating this as a factory KC. The original door label is still in place as well. An included Marti report also shows this to be a factory King Cobra with other selected factory options.

The King Cobra package added a snake decal on the hood, King Cobra badging, and pinstriping around the side windows, decklid, wheel arches, and rockers. Other features include a rear lip spoiler, painted bumpers and mirror caps. The paint and decals are in good overall condition and the paint has a nice gloss and shine and is smooth to the touch. The body is in great shape on this car and the gaps and lines are nice especially for being an older repaint. The underside of the King Cobra is in fantastic original condition with no patches or rust concerns in the past or present. Many factory markings and decals and tags are still present on the underside of this King. The underside is very clean and honest and in original condition.

13″ lacy-spoke aluminum wheels feature orange accents and are fitted with new BF Goodrich tires sized 205/60/13 at each corner which have full tread left. The car was factory-equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes. The brakes were serviced recently. A stock style exhaust is underneath this King and the car sounds stock at idle and cruising speeds.

The cabin is mostly original and features Tan upholstery and a matching dash, door panels, and carpet. Interior equipment includes two rear seats, an upgraded stereo but a new dash speaker is needed. The seat covers are original and in good overall shape and are very comfortable, but the drivers seat bun has some seam splits. The original carpet is in great shape and the rear carpet is original as well and in great shape. The blower motor works well on all speeds. Gauges and speedo work but the tach is intermittent. The cigarette lighter works well as does the horn and blinkers. Interior and exterior lights work.

The leather-wrapped sport steering wheel fronts a 6k-rpm tachometer, a speedometer and the other gauges are stock and work properly. The five-digit odometer shows 69,010 miles which are actual. Everything works on the car including the cigarette lighter and emergency brake. The horn, stereo, blower motor on all speeds, cigarette lighter, wipers, all lights, and turn signals all work.

The original 302ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels through an original 4 speed manual transmission and the car drives good. Engine bay area is very original with numerous original stampings, decals, stickers, paint dobs, vacuum hoses, etc. The original battery bracing surround is still in place as is the original air induction system and air cleaner assembly. This King Cobra was stored for around 35 years before 3rd owner purchased the car. He has a restoration shop and numerous components were rebuilt and serviced to get this car road worthy again. Here is a description of items that were addressed:
