Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this stunning 1977 Special Edition Trans AM which comes with factory ordered Firethorn Red interior. I have only seen one other 1977 SE with factory red interior. This SE TA comes with PHS documents validating this as a factory Special Edition TA. This TA features a beautiful repaint in factory Black with gold pin stripes with newer decals, a beautiful Firethorn vinyl interior, the original Pontiac numbers matching 400 engine, and PHS documents. This TA is very solid with great lines and gaps and has no rust issues or bubbling paint anywhere around the car. This TA is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Black over Red vinyl interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag pictured above and the included PHS documents. This SE TA features a rare and stunning color combination and really stands out in the crowd. This rare SE TA is ready to go and in show condition. I drove it to the world of wheels indoor car show this January and placed first in my class. See car show photos in the gallery. The 42,711 miles are “Actual” and shown as such on the current Ohio title and also shown as “Actual” on the previous MA Title.
Exterior
The Black exterior is in terrific restored condition. This SE TA was treated to a professional rotisserie repaint around 15 years ago and shows very well, looks fresh, and in my opinion looks show quality. The paint is in excellent condition and both bumpers are in great shape. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have near full tread left and are sized 225/70/15 and the 15×8 snowflake wheels were fully restored and are in excellent like new condition. NOS center caps were installed with NOS lug nuts. See included receipts for wheels and tires at over $3000. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in great condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original trunk mat, jack and accessories, inflator bottle, and original Hurst T Top bag. The original jack and lug wrench are still in place. The underside is in detailed show condition and this TA was fully taken apart and put on a rotisserie prior to being repainted. Underside is in correct red oxide and looks fantastic. New brake lines and fuel lines were installed. All rubber pieces were upgraded with new parts. The body and underside are both very solid and there are no rust bubbles anywhere and no cracked paint.
Interior
The Firethorn Red deluxe vinyl interior of this SE TA is in great overall condition. The original seat covers are in great condition with no major wear, seam splits, or rips or tears. The red carpet in in like new condition and was replaced with no major stains, rips, or holes. The door panels are in excellent condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The dash is in excellent condition with no cracks or fading and the dash bezel is in great condition as well. The upgraded CD stereo works well and was installed in the map pocket and the dash was not cut in any way. The rear speakers were upgraded with new units and the system sounds awesome. The package tray is like new and not warped. All exterior lights and gauges work as they should, outside of the clock. The wipers, stereo, and blower motor work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. I have only seen one other factory 1977 SE with Firethorn interior online as this color combo is rarely seen.
Mechanical
This SE TA is in excellent mechanical condition and very importantly the original Pontiac 400 engine is still in the car with numbers matching. The engine was removed when the car was painted and rebuilt with an upgraded cam. I have driven this TA numerous times around town and it performs well, does not run hot, rides tight, and is a true joy to drive. I have been on the highway with it many times and it drives very well and has great manners on the road. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs well. This TA is an great driver that feels good on the road and at highway speeds. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. This TA has upgraded performance exhaust with ram air manifolds which gives it a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. A coolant flush was recently done and a new starter was added. Also, the engine is meticulously clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory non AC car which really cleans up the engine bay area and adds to performance.
