Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this fantastic survivor 1978 Red Bird which is in superb overall condition with very low actual miles of 22,291. This car drives like new as only a very low mile car can. The original 350 engine remains in the car and runs very well. This Red Bird features beautiful mostly original Red paint and trim, an original mint red deluxe cloth interior, the original 350 engine, and numerous original dealer documents and brochures and the original build sheet. This Red Bird is very solid with great lines and gaps. There is no rust or rust repairs and no bubbling or cracked paint. The underside is extremely solid with no rust or corrosion issues and no patches or repairs. This firebird was rust proofed when new on the underside and elsewhere to prevent rust which has really done its job. This firebird is finished in the desirable color combinations of Red over red interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag and build sheet pictured above. They produced 3140 Redbirds in 1978 so these are hard to come by and make a splash when seen.
Exterior
The Red exterior is in fantastic original stock condition. This firebird has very nice mostly original paint and trim. The believed to be original paint is in terrific overall condition for its age with no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in great shape. The decals look like new as does the trim and hardware. There is no bubbling paint anywhere on the body of this car. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have full tread left and the 15″ snowflake wheels are in excellent original condition. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in great original condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with the original trunk mat, original jack, and the original spare tire. The underside is exceptionally solid with no rust issues or concerns and no patches or repairs and was undercoated when new to prevent rust.
Interior
The Red deluxe cloth interior of this firebird is in terrific original stock condition. The original seat covers are in spectacular condition with no noticeable wear or fading or seam splits. These are factory original covers not some cheap aftermarket covers. The carpet is in great condition with no stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in like new condition with no cracks or warping or fading. The engine turned dash bezel is like new as well and correct and looks beautiful in the car. The original style am fm 8 track player looks great and works and sounds great and thankfully the dash was not cut on for a modern stereo. The original door panels are in excellent condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner was professionally replaced and is in like new condition with the correct material. The package tray is original and in excellent condition. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should including the cigarette lighter. The horn, all gauges, stereo, wipers, rear defrost, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The factory AC is currently blowing cold air and works as it should. Power windows and door locks work well.
Mechanical
This firebird is in great mechanical condition and the original 350 engine is still in the car and runs very well. This engine runs great with plenty of power and the car performs nicely. This car is very tight and responsive and handles like new. The stock style exhaust has a mild stock tone with some recent repairs. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time and runs well. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. Also, the engine is very clean and completely stock and correct as far as I can see. Very unmolested with numerous original hoses and clamps and vacuum lines and decals and tags and factory markings. Only original survivor stock cars can show like this and they are only original and in this high level of condition once. True time capsule which should do nothing but appreciate over time.
