Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am which is fully restored in rarely seen factory Sundance Yellow paint. This TA features a Pontiac 400 engine from a 1978 W72 four speed Trans AM. This TA has been very nicely restored over the last 5 years with well over $20,000 in included receipts from that time frame. This Trans Am features beautiful Sundance Yellow Paint, an upgraded Pontiac 400 engine coupled with a rebuilt automatic transmission, a fully restored interior, and numerous service records and receipts. Also included is the factory build sheet, a preproduction window sticker, and PHS Documentation.
Exterior
The Yellow exterior is in very nice restored condition. The paint was redone around 8 years ago with new decals applied at that time. The front bumper grills and front nose emblem were replaced. The paint shows very well and has a nice gloss and shine and is smooth to the touch. The underside is very honest and solid and is in great shape. The bumpers are in great overall condition and look good on the car. The tires have nearly full tread left and are sized 225/70/15 and are reproduction original style tires and cost $1400 for the set. The 15×8 Snowflake wheels are restored originals. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in like new condition. Trunk is very solid and clean with a correct felt trunk mat, spare tire, inflator bottle, and jack. New body side moldings were added after repaint. Pontiac mud flaps have been installed. The glass around the car is like new with newer windshield and door glass.
Interior
The interior of this TA has been fully restored in Factory correct deluxe camel Tan Hobnail Cloth interior. The seat covers were replaced and are like new and are very comfortable. The carpet was replaced and is in great condition with no major stains or holes. Brand new Camel Deluxe door panels we added with new door pulls, door lock knobs, and door cups. The headliner was replaced and is not sagging at all. The original dash is in great shape with no cracks or fading. A restored dash bezel by Randy Combs was installed as well as a new had stitched steering wheel. All plastics were removed and cleaned and re-dyed and look like new. A new package tray was installed as were new rocker sills. A modern Alpine stereo was added with new speakers which sounds awesome. The stereo is installed in the glove box with a nice fitting adapter plate. The factory radio was completely restored, see receipt. The gauges all work properly. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should. The wipers, gauges, heater, power windows, horn, rear defrost, and stereo all work. This is a factory AC car and all components are installed and they system was recently serviced and blows cold air. A new compressor was added a few years ago and several other parts and much money was spent getting the AC system working and to continue to blow cold air.
Mechanical
This TA is in exceptional mechanical condition and many mechanical systems have been restored. The original 403 engine is long gone and in its place is a strong running Pontiac 400 engine which was sourced from a 1978 W72 400 four speed TA. A new distributor and new spark plugs and wires were installed. A new starter was installed. New fuel pump and water pump were installed. A new radiator was installed. The automatic transmission was fully rebuilt. The heater core was replaced. The suspension and steering were rebuilt. All new brake and fuel lines were installed and the brake booster was sent out for full restoration and plating. A new master cylinder was installed and proportioning valve was added and new rubber hoses. The brakes were fully serviced with new calipers and pads and hoses. We have driven this TA numerous times around town and on the highway and it always performs very well, does not run hot, rides tight, and is a true joy to drive. See photos above highlighting recent work performed on this fine TA. This TA is an excellent driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs excellent. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. This TA has newer dual exhaust with performance mufflers and sounds great at idle and cruising speeds. Also, the engine is meticulously clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. Much effort was spent getting this engine bay to show condition and standards. This TA has earned many awards including placing second in class at the Trans AM Nationals and placing outstanding in class twice. This TA has placed first in class 3 times and the world of wheels event in Cincinnati Ohio, Cavalcade of Customs. This TA has also earned well over 50 local and regional trophies over the last 5 years.
