This 1978 Ford Mustang II is one of approximately 4,300 examples equipped with the King Cobra package, which added special trim, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a 302ci V8. The car is finished in White over a Black Vinyl interior with a 4 speed manual transmission. This King Cobra was owned for 28 years by the prior owner and was driven several times from Ohio to Florida and was just driven 200 miles to my shop in Cincinnati. The clean Ohio title shows the 72,198 miles as “Actual.” The exterior is believed to be original paint and trim and decals. The paint and decals appear to be original and the paint still shows very well for being 45 years old. The paint is very consistent from panel to panel and shows no crazing or cracking but has a couple of rock chip touch ups. The hood decals shows some expected patina and the factory clear film over parts of the lower pinstripes has yellowed and cracked which is common on original cars. There is absolutely no rust anywhere on the car and no bubbling paint, and no cracked paint. The underside of this KC is in excellent condition and is very solid and rust free. The factory trim tag is still in place on the radiator support validating this as a factory KC. The original door label is still in place as well. This car was sold new in Canada and the odometer is in kilometers and the original Canadian decal is in the door jamb.

The car has believed to be original White paint and graphics. The King Cobra package added a snake decal on the hood, King Cobra badging, and pinstriping around the side windows, decklid, wheel arches, and rockers. Other features include a rear lip spoiler, painted bumpers and mirror caps. The paint and decals are in great overall original condition and the paint has an excellent gloss and shine and is smooth to the touch. There is no rust anywhere around the car and no bubbling paint. The body is amazing on this car and the gaps and lines are excellent especially for being original. The underside of the King Cobra is in fantastic original condition with no patches or rust concerns in the past or present. Many factory markings and decals and tags are still present on the underside of this King. The underside is very clean and honest and correct and the metal is original and in excellent condition.

13″ lacy-spoke aluminum wheels feature orange accents and are fitted with 195/70/13 tires at each corner which have good tread left. The car was factory-equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes. The brakes stop and work like they should. A stock style exhaust is underneath this King and the car sounds stock at idle and cruising speeds. The cat was removed and a strait pipe was installed in its place.

The cabin is mostly original and features Black upholstery and a matching dash, door panels, and carpet. Interior equipment includes two rear seats, an upgraded Pioneer stereo with newer speakers and Kenwood amp mounted in the hatch. The upgraded stereo sounds awesome and works well and has been in place for decades. The rear hatch struts are weak and should be replaced. The seat covers are original and in fantastic shape and are very comfortable. The original carpet is in great shape and the rear carpet is original as well and in great shape. The blower motor currently is not working but I plan to look into that and assume it should be an easy fix. The speedo takes a little bit to start working.

The leather-wrapped sport steering wheel fronts a 6k-rpm tachometer, a speedometer and the other gauges are stock and work properly. The five-digit odometer shows 72,198 miles which are actual. Everything works on the car including the cigarette lighter and emergency brake. The horn, stereo, blower motor on all speeds, cigarette lighter, wipers, all lights, and turn signals all work.

The original 302ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels through an original 4 speed manual transmission and the car drives wonderfully. Engine bay area is very original with numerous original stampings, decals, stickers, paint dobs, vacuum hoses, etc. The original battery bracing surround is still in place as is the original air induction system and air cleaner assembly. An upgraded intake manifold and 4 barrel carb. were installed many years ago and work perfectly on the car. Car runs and drives very well and has been on numerous long road trips including the power tour and several trips from Ohio to Florida over the years.
