This 1978 Ford Mustang II is one of approximately 4,300 examples equipped with the King Cobra package, which added special trim, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a 302ci V8. The car is finished in Black over a Black Vinyl interior with an automatic transmission. This King Cobra has a Marti Report, an intact radiator support buck tag, and a clean Ohio title showing the mileage as “Actual.” This KC only has 96,519 Actual Miles showing on the Ohio title. This King Cobra was treated to some tasteful upgrades last year including a 5 lug wheel conversion and features more modern 17″ Mustang Wheels. Also new front coil overs were installed with new lower and upper control arms. All new brakes front and back were also installed including new calipers, new rotors, new pads and hoses and lines, new rear wheel cylinders and drums. New belts and filters were also installed in the engine bay. The exterior was repainted in factory black and shows very well with new decals added. The paint is shiny and slick and there is no rust or bubbling paint anywhere and no signs of past rust repair. The underside of this KC looks as good as the top and shows no patches or repairs and no rust issues. A Marti report is included and the factory trim tag is still in place on the radiator support validating this as a factory KC.
The car has very nice new paint and graphics. The King Cobra package added a snake decal on the hood, King Cobra badging, and pinstriping around the side windows, decklid, wheel arches, and rockers. Other features include a rear lip spoiler, painted bumpers and mirror caps. The paint and decals are in great overall condition and the paint has a nice gloss and shine and is smooth to the touch. There is no rust anywhere around the car and no bubbling paint.
17″ upgraded Mustang wheels are in great condition and come wrapped in nice tires. The 5 lug conversion was completed in the last year and gives this KC a more modern look and rake. The car was factory-equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes. The brakes stop and work like they should. The brakes were completely gone through last year and a new brake booster and master cylinder were added. True dual exhaust was added and gives this King a nice sound at idle and cruising speeds. A new fuel tank was just added along with a new fuel pump.
The cabin is mostly stock original and features Black upholstery and a matching dash, door panels, and carpet. Interior equipment includes two rear seats, a non working Sony, an original shift knob, and manual wind-up windows. The rear hatch struts work but are not very strong. The seat covers appear to be original and in good shape and feel comfortable. The carpet is in good shape and the rear carpet is as well.
The leather-wrapped sport steering wheel fronts a 6k-rpm tachometer, a speedometer and the other gauges are stock and work properly. The five-digit odometer shows 96,519 miles which are actual. With all the suspension upgrades and work completed the car needs a professional alignment which is normal after these changes.
The 302ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels through an automatic transmission and the car drives good. Engine bay area is clean and nicely detailed. An aluminum intake and new Holley 4 barrel carb. were just added.
