This 1978 Ford Mustang II is one of approximately 4,300 examples equipped with the King Cobra package, which added special trim, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, and a 302ci V8. The car is finished in Dark Midnight Blue over a tan plaid interior with a four-speed manual transmission. This King Cobra has factory literature, service records, a Deluxe Marti Report, and a clean Ohio title showing the mileage as “Actual.” This KC only has 85,767 Actual Miles and is mostly a one owner car with lots of documentation to support that claim. Per the elite Marti Report This King Cobra is a one of one KC with the options that were factory ordered. There is absolutely no rust anywhere on the car and no bubbling paint, no chips and no door dings. The car is stunning in person and looks excellent in the sun. The underside of this KC is very honest with no patches or rust issues and this KC was rust proofed when new. A Marti report and the factory trim tag is still in place on the radiator support validating this as a factory KC.
The car was refinished in Dark Midnight Blue with orange stripes during previous ownership. The King Cobra package added a snake decal on the hood, King Cobra badging, and pinstriping around the side windows, decklid, wheel arches, and rockers. Other features include a rear lip spoiler, painted bumpers and mirror caps. The paint and decals are in excellent condition and the paint has a nice gloss and shine and is smooth to the touch. There is no rust anywhere around the car and no bubbling paint. The paint is beautiful and fresh and the factory T Tops are both rare on these cars and offer a nice driving open air experience.
New 15″ Scott Drake 4 lug wheels are fitted with newer 205/60/15 BF Goodrich tires at each corner which have full tread left. The car was factory-equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes. The master cylinder was replaced and the brakes stop and work like they should. True dual exhaust was added years ago and the car sounds great at idle and cruising speeds. E-brake works properly.
The cabin is mostly original and features tan upholstery and a matching dash, door panels, and carpet. Interior equipment includes two rear seats, an original stereo which still sounds good, an original shift knob, and manual wind-up windows. The rear hatch struts work properly and hold up the hatch well. The carpet is like new and is in great shape as is the rear carpet.
The leather-wrapped sport steering wheel fronts a 6k-rpm tachometer, a speedometer and the other gauges are stock and work properly. The five-digit odometer shows 85,767 miles which are actual. The seat covers are in great overall condition. The carpets are like new.
The original 302ci V8 sends power to the rear wheels through an original four-speed manual transmission and the car drives wonderfully. A newer battery was added. Engine bay area is very original with numerous stampings, decals, stickers, paint dobs, vacuum hoses, etc. The original battery bracing surround is still in place as is the original air induction system and air cleaner assembly. E brake is working properly and heater core was recently replaced. Horn and gauges and all lights work properly.
