Cincy Classic Cars is very proud to offer this very rare 1 of 346 Factory 4 Speed Formulas ever produced with the Pontiac 400 high performance engine. This car is very special because it still retains its numbers matching original Pontiac 400 engine and 4 speed manual transmission. Adding greatly to the value of this unique car is the fact that the original owner kept the car from new in 1979 until his passing in 2017. A family member of the original owner purchased the car, then a friend of mine bought it, and I recently bought it from him. This formula is mostly original and unmolested and comes with a host of original documents. The W72/WS6 high performance Pontiac 400 engine Formulas coupled with the manual 4 speed transmission are the ultimate Formulas to own and demand top billing in the market place. With very low production numbers and in a rarely seen beautiful Factory color of Mayan Red make this Firebird all the more special. This Formula was sold new in Cincinnati Ohio which is only 10 miles away from where the car is now up for sale. This Formula features mostly original paint, a beautiful black deluxe vinyl mostly original interior, the numbers matching 400 Pontiac engine and numbers matching 4 speed transmission, and most of the original dealer documents and PHS documents. This Formula is very solid and has great lines and gaps. There is no visible rust on the body or underside of this car. This Formula is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Mayan Red (code 75) over Black deluxe vinyl interior code(19N). This is the factory color scheme as verified on the trim tag and PHS documents pictured above. This Formula comes with most of original dealer documents, original owner history and original title and registration, original bill of sale and window sticker, and PHS documents all which authenticate this Formula for what it was then and what it still is today. Miles are branded “Actual” on the clean Ohio title pictured above. Also, the clean original condition of this car speaks to the low “Actual” miles.

Exterior

The Mayan Red exterior is in beautiful mostly original condition. This Formula has approximately 80% original paint. A small dent was removed from the passenger front fender and most of that fender has newer paint and was blended perfectly. The original paint is in overall very nice condition for being original and looks and shows very well. The paint is in great overall condition with a smooth surface and shiny gloss which looks fantastic in the sun. There is no bubbling paint or cracked paint anywhere on the car. All sheet metal is original. Both bumpers are in great shape with no flaking paint. The decals are in good shape and look great on the car. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. Tires are newer and have nearly full tread left on them. The 15×8 Snowflake wheels are OEM originals and are in great shape and the center caps and lug nuts are in excellent shape. All weather stripping and window sweeps are original and in good condition. The trunk is solid and very clean with the original space saver spare tire, inflator bottle, and a correct trunk mat. The underside of this Formula is honest and extremely solid and rust free. It has not been spray bombed with cheap paint or detailed in any way. There are numerous factory assembly line markings and tags still in place as seen in the photos.

Interior

The Black vinyl interior of this Formula is mostly original and in excellent condition. The seat covers are in excellent condition and have no major wear, stains, or seam splits. The carpet is original and in good overall condition with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in great overall condition and the dash bezel is in excellent condition. The stereo has been upgraded to a modern CD Mp3/USB player that looks and sounds great in the car, the 6×9 speakers have also been upgraded. The original door panels are in great condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in excellent condition and the package tray is in like new condition. All interior lights and gauges work as they should including the cigarette lighter, the clock keeps accurate time as well. The horn, tach, stereo, wipers, and blower motor on all speeds all work.

Mechanical

This Formula is in excellent mechanical condition and most importantly the original numbers matching Pontiac 400 engine and transmission are still in the car, see vin stamp photos of both above. This Formula has gone on two recent road trips in the last few months and performed extremely well during each. Both trips were over 3 hours long with mixed highway and back street driving. This Formula runs and drives very well, it rides tight, drives strait down the road, and does not run hot. The engine bay shows a lot of originality and several original factory markings, factory vacuum lines, factory decals/stickers, and factory tags are still in place. In the video one can observe the car running and driving with no excessive rattles or odd noises. This rare Formula has factory 4 wheel disk brakes and they perform very well and do not pull and stop as they should. This Formula has dual exhaust and has a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory NON AC car which really cleans up the engine bay. This Formula has been loved and meticulously cared for by its previous owners, mostly by the original owner who had the car for over 38 years and the amazing overall condition of this Formula is a testament to that. The outstanding originality of this Formula and the way it drives is a true testament to prior owners care and love for this special car. This Formula is truly the one to have being a low production car with the highest performance drive line available.
